Hydro Ban over Kerdi - What thinset?
Installed Kerdi board, pan, and band with Kerdi AllSet as per Kerdi instructions. All was great until I installed the Kerdi membrane “ring” over the drain flange. After it dried, I found a small bubble in the material over the flange. After researching, I dealt with the bubble but then was concerned about the waterproofing integrity of the pan. So I bought some Hydro Ban and painted two coats (with appropriate drying time) and also decided to Hydro Ban the pan corners as extra insurance. I flood tested the pan 24 hours and it passed.
I know that I won’t get the Schluter warranty for mixing their materials with those from Laticrete, so I’m not worried about that.
I am wondering about what thinset to use for the tile? Is Schluter AllSet appropriate everywhere - floor (mosaic) and wall (12x24)? I’m especially concerned about the floor, and even wondered if I should paint HydroBan everywhere and then use a modified thinset (which I think is what Laticrete specifies over HydroBan)?

Looks great! You cant over water-proof. Easier to over do it than to find a leak after.
