Niche Lip (Feather out with Thinset or relieve Perma Base???
I installed a plastic niche and concerned about the lip that does not sit flush on the wall board.
Question :
Should I use a oscillating saw to "relieve" the perma base cement board or feather it out with thinset prior to tiling? (I've worked hard to make everything plumb and square as I could and the lip area of the niche is bothering me)

Maybe cut out the Permabase on the perimeter and use 1/4" cement board in that area and put thinset behind the 1/4" board to bring it out shy of the 1/2" permabase. So that when you put the niche on it finishes flush.
