Line drain overboard fix

Hey everyone.

I'm sure by now most of us have heard about Kerdi line drain delamination. Well it hasn't stopped any customers from requesting one yet. Sometimes I have no choice.

So, me needing to fix it BEFORE it's a problem, I've started cutting the Nova fiber into thin strips. I take the factory edge and fold it over the line drain 1\2", hydroban it, and continue.

Does anyone think this is going to be useful? Or am I only pleasing myself and it's not really doing anything.?

I think this could be helpful in the way that it sheds water over the failure point. But if the drain backs up, it will still find its way up and under. This is definielty better though. Maybe tell the customers the importance of keeping the haircatcher clean to avoid backups.

Long story short, nothing seems to hold to stainless steel over long periods of time and repeated thermal cycles.
