Problem with kerdi membrane on shower pan - need advice
Hi All,
My shower is coming along, almost ready for tiling. I covered the cement pack shower pan with kerdi membrane. There is one small spot (about 3" x 1") where the membrane overlaps by the requisite 2", where I didn't squeeze out all the thinset between the layers. This has caused a small bump which interferes with the shower slope. I'm using a 1 1/2" mosaic tile on the shower pan and the bump is noticeable if I lay the tile over the problem area.
I see a couple of possible solutions. One is to cut the area out. chisel out the excess thinset and patch it with kerdi membrane. The other is to lay a 6 inch strip of kerdi membrane around the perimeter of the shower pan to increase the slope slightly.
Anyone have any other solutions? Would you recommend either of the solutions I have mentioned?

Hydroban seals EVERYTHING. all those thinset banding overlaps that can wick water, sealed. Little spot you missed, or didn't press the banding in, sealed. Pinhole in your board, sealed
Not only sealed, but it is a durable layer perfect for any tile.
I'm a small company, I cannot afford to come back unless I'm doing another project in your home. This "overkill" is money well spent when I lay my head down at night.
You only get to waterproof that shower pan ONCE. Imo. Plenty of people just roll with the schluter. But I think Coach's and others videos have shown that only thinset and banding is not enough for our standards.
And yes. I would still 2 coat everything. It's just part of our process now
