Hydroban at Seams
I’m doing a large walk-in shower. Because of its greater rigidity and flatness, I’m using 5/8” Densshield. GP recommends sealant joints and mesh tape coated with thinset at the seams. However, I am planning to use Kerdiband at the seams since it is readily available to at my locatoion, plus I think it is a better product.
Here’s the question, Instead of using thinset for the Kerdiband, I am wondering if Hydroban (also readily available) could be considered in lieu of thinset to secure the Kerdi band (or other Kerdi Membrane for that matter)

Thanks guys for the responses...Kerdi band and Kerdi Membrane are both waterproof, but not totally vaporproof, I wasn't sure if enough vapor could pass to dry the Hydroban...guess not...Good suggestion to use 8+9, yes I initially considered that, but here in Hawaii the Ardex dealer didn't even know what 8+9 was...in talking to the Ardex factory rep for our area, he said he couldn't interest the dealer in carrying any tile setting products period...odd for a region of 1 million plus population, with lots of high-end commercial and residential projects whose occupants take lots of baths
