Bathroom Remodel - Which waterproof system
Redoing my master bathroom shower. It currently has a acrylic/fiberglass shower pan and is 41 x 36. going to expand it to 64 x 41. Haven't decided what to do with the drain at this point. May leave it in place or may try a linear drain. Depends on what I find under the pan. I removed my separate bath tub and installed an Ellas Bubbles Monaco last week and the drain ran straight to the wall and then did the p-trap. If that is the case with the shower then a linear drain is easy. If not I am going to go with a traditional drain. Don't want to jack hammer concrete as the floor is a concrete slab.
I was planning on doing a full schluter system or a mudbed with schluter. But after watching your videos am rethinking that.
Looking at the RSS website they are similar to schluter in install methodology. The Pro series has the caulk and foam wall board but the HD series is membrane and thinset, at least from my view. What makes the pro series less likely to fail than schluter since the weakness with scluter is the thinset? Maybe I am missing a special thinset?
I am going to tile around the Ellas Bubbles Monaco tub. The manufacturer recommends using a tile flange. Nobody stocks that thing. Lowes won't even sell it unless you buy a particular manufacturers tub. Would you use a tile flange?

Only if you have a white marble on the shower pan. That is what I was referring to
