Materials List + Damaged Backer Board
Hi all. New to the forum and to tiling. Big thanks to all the members on here and to the Tile Coach crew for the wealth of information out there. This is a long post, I just want to be thorough to paint the entire picture.
I'm gathering my materials for my shower project and in truth, I wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything before I proceed as well as make sure there are no issues in the compatibility of my materials as they span across different brands. I will be purchasing as much of my materials off the Tile Coach site as I can, everything else will be sourced locally.
I'm replacing a weathered and poorly maintained (from the previous owner) plastic shower pan and putting in tile. I've removed the lower row of tile and pulled the pan. I left 2.5" of the existing backer board for me to bond to. As you can see from the images below, some of the board was damaged in the tile removal. You can also see that the builder used Red Guard to waterproof the shower.
MATERIALS LIST:
Heavy duty black garbage bag and metal lathe on subfloor
FloFX NoFlo membrane, corners & banding (TC site)
FloFX Drain & Grate (TC site)
Kerdi Curb (might trim to 4" tall - Home Depot)
MAPEI 4-to-1 Mud Bed Mix (Lowe's)
Kerdi All-Set Thinset (will use for membrane, banding and corners - Lowe's)
Kerdi Backer Board (1/2" - Lowe's)
Kerdi Screws & Fastners (Lowe's)
Laticrete 253 thin-set (for walls and floor tiles - online)
Shower size: 60x34" rough in.
Tiles: 12x12"
Current backer thickness: 1/2"
QUESTIONS:
Any compatibility issues using NoFlo membrane with Kerdi board?
What's the best method to repair the damaged board and ensure it will remain waterproof after re-tiling?
Will the Red Guard remnants need to be removed/peeled off before I tape the joints and corners?
Will there be issues using thin-set and banding on the existing walls, or do I need to prep/treat them beforehand (after repairing)?
Will that edge give me any issues with the corner waterproofing? The shower door will sit inward of it, but that looks like it could be an issue if not tended to correctly.
Am I missing anything?

Quick update on progress before I dive back in today. Here are some pictures of the membrane installation and after 2 thin coats of Hydroban on the walls. All-in-all things have been going pretty smoothly. What took longer than anticipated is laying out the pebbles on the ground! An exercise in patience for sure. Hopefully the stones will be thinset into place today, grout tomorrow.
