Curbless pan plus curb

Weekend warrior here…yes, you can assume I don’t know what I don’t know. :). Here are my first questions.

  1. I accidently bought a curbless tileredi pan to fit my 60 x 38 space. I’m on a slab and didn’t want to jackhammer the foundation, so I bought a prefabbed curb from Everbilt. I set the curbless pan and the curb in type S mortar. That’s where I am today and ready for the next step. Am I going to regret adding a curb that’s not connected to the tileredi pan?

  2. I bought Durock for the walls. I understand from watching some of your videos that Durock is not completely waterproof. I would like to take it back and get wall board that is completely waterproof (except for the seams and screw holes, of course). What do you recommend?

  3. Last question: After the walls are up I will need to waterproof seams, screwholes and joint where the curb meets the pan. Can you recommend materials please? Is that all I need to do for the curb/pan joint or should I do more?

Thanks for you help!

Not ideal but you are basically putting together a puzzle piece system like a wedi or go board pan. I like that you used sealant to connect the curb to the pan, but like Ben said it’s better to add some banding. 8+9 is a waterproof adhesive that acts like thinset and will cure under the banding with a chemical reaction.

Make sure you get some pre formed corners (2 in, 2 out) for the curb/wall/pan connection and curb wall connection on the top of the curb.
