Encompass Shower Base
Hi Isaac, Was hoping for your insights... I plan to use an Encompass Shower base (corian product) https://encompassshowerbases.com. Their site has installation specs and a great installation video. Even though their spec doesn't call it out, I plan to use Laticrete Hydro ban with a waterproof membrane on the cement board. The spec says to butt the bottom side of the cement boards to the upright sides (vertical) of the shower base, leaving 1/8" gap which is to be filled with silicone caulking. My concern is "water shedding"; i.e., water that penetrates the tile grout lines won't shed into the shower base - - may find its way to interior wood (e.g. studs, etc.). I was thinking of taping waterproof membrane to overlap part of the cement board and part of the shower base vertical sides - - which may help to shed the water into the shower base. Thoughts?: 1) on my solution, 2) a better solution and 3) your opinion about using the Encompass product??? Thanks, Dean

Thank much Isaac
