Ditra heat pad at FlowFX drain

Hi Isaac I’ve ben a subscriber to your YouTube content -much kudos and thanks for you efforts.

I ran into a situation in my new shower install with a Ditra heat installation. We used RSS foam pan and FlowFX drain. The Ditra uncoupling pad was going over that and then the RSS membrane. After the Ditra was laid down, I realized that since the FlowFX is flush with the pan, the edge of the Ditra heat pad will be exposed where it runs to the edge of the drain.

Should we have had the FlowFX flange sit higher than the pan so that the top of the flange would be level with the top of the Ditra so the waterproofing membrane would be mounted directly on the surface of the flange? If I cut back the ditra pad to the edge of the flange there will now be a dip.

Any thoughts on the best way to resolve it- hopefully without tearing it off and starting over? Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

thamks for the response. So what do you think are my options? I’m assuming the drain flange (and the foam pan) would get torn up cutting the connection to raise the flang— could that part be repaired with deck mud to fill in?
