TILE OVER WOOD COLUMN
I have a column that is covered with a combination of 1x solid pine and 1/2" plywood. I want to tile the entire column. What prep do I need to do?

I have a column that is covered with a combination of 1x solid pine and 1/2" plywood. I want to tile the entire column. What prep do I need to do?
Not on dimensional lumber. But on plywood certain thinsets are ok.
