tile bath tub, how to
hello all,
i want to build a bath tub out of tile like the image i provided. how do you think this is framed up to create this approximately 4" wall on the outside? my current tile guy wants to do hot mop and a mudset over the framing but that will result in a very thick wall. i'm having trouble uploading an image but here is a link. the tub i'm basing this on is over on the third slide. the purple one.

Hey Ryan I was actually able to use the link since I’m in the ap. Yes, I would use 2x3 (nominal) lumber to frame it. That way the scratch/brown plus the hot mop only adds about another 1-1/4” or so. I love working with the 2x3 kiln dried Doug fir at Home Depot. Very easy to cut and frame and it’s really straight with not many knots.
