Valve/Trim Tile Depth Issue
Update: this is a Kohler RiteTemp balancing valve 2971-KS-NA-AB. Kohler confirmed this plastic back plate should be installed per instructions on tile wall and not altered for optimal performance and avoid potential issues.. waiting on plumber still
Got to tiling up to the main valve and ran into an issue since the plumber wont get back with me..
My 2nd plumber moved the valve depth up to allow for backer, mortar and tile (since plumber 1 put it way way to far back) however now it appears with the white backing plate on the valve housing now its going to be about 2.5mm too far out now, maybe trim it?
He also told me that the trim housing fits inside the tile hole and not outside of it like the instructions seem to show..

Not sure how that gets messed up in these typical installs. Kohler and Delta have both figured in tolerances for different thicknesses of tile. Slap a vertical 2x4 against the back wall and screw your valve to it. Done. (With the exception of that crappy universal valve)
How do "professional" plumbers mess this up?
