Any tips for making 45 degree miter cuts?

Learning to make miter cuts with my new tile saw. I always seem to chip them. Not terrible and they clean up pretty nice with a rubbing stone but would like get them a bit cleaner. I did try painters tape and it made a bit of difference. Thanks for any tips.

I would try it with it with a hand grinder using this turbo mesh blade. You can clamp the tiles to a table and run your cuts relatively fast, get them as close as you can. Then a variable speed sander with diamond pad to get them fine tuned.
