Walk in shower question-diy

Hello everyone,

full transparency, I am a DIY-er and have tackled many a job before but this is my first shower.

I have attached a video of what I am going to do.

My biggest spot for advice is

#1) the final mud deck on top of the existing solid bed… can I go straight over the top. #2) do I hang the rock and then float the sloped deck for the tile or the reverse?

I have attached a video explaining all my different questions/ideas. It seems easier to create a very diy‘er video than type a very inept paragraph.

I appreciate your time

Respectfully

@Isaac Ostrom , thank you for taking the time to reply, I truly appreciate it. If we were to make this a curb-less transition because that sounds like much less work!!! What would I use to build it up? Just deck mud and set the drain at the proper height using the bottom of the 2 x 4 as my "highest" point then 1/4 drop per inch?

The walls are not to bad. They are pretty consistent and plumb after 30 years of settling. I just like to make sure things are solid and flat underneath before I finish. Most of my DIY jobs would still be standing if the house fell...🙄.

Again thanks for your time. I can tell you are passionate about what you do. Keep up the great teaching, there are always people like me that want to learn more.
