Mosaic tile on the bathroom floor: What underlayment

I am in the middle of a remodel a bathroom in my 1984 home. The 5x8 bath will still have a tub so the floor area is about 5x5.5. The sub-floor is 5/8 plywood which is in good shape. I removed the 1in tile on a 1/4 subfloor that was stapled to the subfloor. I like the idea of an uncoupling membrane such as the strata-mat from your video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a13WN5L1puc&t=6s

This is the tile I am using they are 2 1/4 hex Porcelain.

I was "thinking" that I would use a membrane and the same thinset for both the mat and the tile.

My wife is in love with this tile!

Looks great! Good choice with porcelain. Strata-mat would be a good choice. You can use any Laticrete modified thinset to put down the membrane and the tile. With smaller tiles I suggest installing the membrane and then immediately skim coating the cavities of the mat and letting it dry before installing the tile. This will keep the thinset from getting too thick and getting messy. It will also allow you to draw lines on it if you need to. TRI-LITE is a good thinset to use.
