Drywall and Tile
My wife wants to tile all the way to the top. I was only going to tile where my go board will go (picture). But now can I tile over the finished drywall on the top?

Thank you Larry. That area is from the old shower and bathtub that we're replacing. I saw different posts and YouTube videos, some say it's ok to tile over existing drywall and some say it's not good. I'm not worried about it getting wet as they're way far up. It's painted with semi-gloss paint. So, will the thinset stick to that drywall surface is my main question. If it sticks then I'm good. Sounds like it works per your comments. Truly appreciate you taking the time to respond. Value your expertise.
