I have used liquid membranes for my walk-in showers, both walls and floor and have not had any problems, including the first one that I did 13 years ago. I am currently putting in a curb walk-in shower in the ranch style, slab on grade house that I am building. I have used the concrete grinder to create the drain slope in the actual concrete slab, and the walls are concrete board seamed with thinset mortar. The Flofx drain is set with thinset so all is ready for applying the liquid membrane. I’m not opposed to using a sheet membrane but my question is, what would be the reasons I would go with a sheet membrane instead of liquid membrane for the floor being that there is no worries of any moisture still being in the concrete?

Sheet membrane can be installed immediately after the dry pack. It is also a uniform, consistent surface. It doesn’t crack when applied too thick.
