Diamond Hole Saw Tips - Porcelain Tile?
Any tips when drilling holes using small diamond hole saws?
I had to drill two 1/4" holes in glazed porcelain tile using a Milwaukee diamond hole saw. The holes were to hold a shower wand. I knew there was wood behind, but I did 1/4" just in case I missed it and would have to use inserts.
It's a bear to get the hole started using a "running start."
My first hole was a bit ragged because after I got the bit started and rotated it around, I just drilled flat like you would with a normal drill.
My second hole came out a lot cleaner because I rotated the bit around during the entire drilling process. I did have a helper spraying a little water.
I have to drill six more 3/16" holes for the shower door.

Yeah they work great on porcelain tile. That's all we use.
