Roll on water proofing or membrane?
Long story short, all prefabricated shower niche would not fit. Older home build with 2"x3" studs. I order to plumb the studs, I had to use shims, however the depth of the niche is only 3 3/4". So i decided to build my own shower niche with cement board. Would it be best to use hydro ban roll on water proofing or install a membrane sheet in this area?

Isaac, thank you for the suggestion and tip. I am amazed at how quickly you respond to questions. After applying thinset this on sunday, I have a new appreciation for the tiling trading.
