shower floor slope
Hey y'all,
I'm getting ready to float a mud bed for a shower floor. The floor is roughly 3'x5' but the drain isn't in the center. I want to use Issac's "training wheels" method and install a temporary ledger to determine the slope angle/mud bed depth. Do I make the 1/4" per foot slope based on the farthest point from the drain and do the whole floor at that depth? Doing so would make the slope from the drain to the closer wall steeper. Or do I try to get 1/4" per foot in all directions and have a sloped ledger?? Doing a quick calc shows 1/2" per foot slope on the steeper part, which sounds like it's within the accepted tolerance. But I want to be sure before moving forward.
Thank you.

Thanks Larry,
I like the flat slope idea on the 4' length. Not sure I have the chops to pull that off, but I'll give it some thought. Do you think 2"x2" tile is ok for a steeper bowl? If not, what would you recommend?
