Hey everyone,

We always had a bad slope on our tile floor in the master shower, I didn't really think too much of it. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to let it rip. I never thought too much about granite either as a threshold but I have always known its porous material. So this is what I have found so far, our house is only about 2.5 years old, built by Tilson homes.

1. Bad slope for mud bed, and/or mortar bed under liner. (Golf balls)

2. Pan liner terminates early before granite threshold on the floor, also no protection from the liner in the corner where the granite meets the sheetrock wall.

3. Standing water in trowel marks, under the entire granite threshold.

4. No water proofing on cement board, thin set over screws, etc.

5. bad thin set at upper end of wall tile.

6. Possible mold/mildew? On the white trim casing where the shower tile met one another.

7. Our door hinges and a little sliver of our tile wall was installed over sheet rock.

8. Glass enclosure brackets were just siliconed on the floor/tile, the anchors were literally still sitting inside of the brackets.

I am more than happy to here any tips, or suggested videos to watch. I was hoping initially to just re-do the mud bed and shower pan and just put in some new tile on the floor to about 12" up. But looking how poorly everything was done, I think I am going to do a full gut. I talked to the builder and they told me to kick rocks. That's another story for another day. If you have ammo to give me I'd love keep challenging them. Just doesn't seem right to me.
