Is a backer required for tile floor?
Looks like my bathroom project will include a tile floor now as well. The subfloor is wood joist structure with 3/4” solid t&g on top. Do I definitely need a backer between the decking and the tile? If so, is 1/4” concrete backer board sufficient, or something else?
Also am I correct in assuming waterproofing is not needed for the floor preparation?
If it matters, it will likely be a basic ceramic 12 x 24 floor tile, nothing special.
