Best Curb Buildup/Framing Material
One of the latest TileCoach videos shows a curb framed out of 2x4 wood prior to waterproofing and tiling. Of course, shrinkage from drying or seasonal expansion so cracking will be an issue over time as the wood possibly dries out. Even worse, as shown in the video, is when moisture greatly expands the curb's wood.
So assuming a wood/plywood subfloor, what is best material to build to build the curb if you don't want to use a foam-based material? I am concerned since if later drilling anchors into the framing, then want something a bit sturdier to handle glass-panel & glass-door anchoring besides foam?
Would bricks + cement or a one-piece concrete curb be best if also anchored prior into the subfloor?
Same answer if the subfloor is a concrete slab?

You can thinset bricks down to the wood subfloor if you do not want to use foam.
But wood curbs tend to do better on wood subfloors, because there is airflow underneath.
Wood curbs are really bad on slab foundations.
