Help with drain relocation on hot mop

DIY Change of Plan, was going to install a Linear Shower Drain but found out they are Prone to failure.

I want to have a center Drain and install a FloFx Drain.

I will Dry Pack, re-slope to middle and waterproof with liquid Hydro Ban.

What should I do about the Hot Mop? Hot Mop is pre sloped.

Do I patch it up or Demo the entire thing?

Floor Tile will be tiny Mosaic tile sheets.

Ric- The hot mop drains are not prone to failure, it is the bonded system drains that are (schluter/laticrete/Compotite). The water in/water out system linear drains like you have here are fine as long as you don't mind the maintenance issues. It works the same way as a regular water in/water out drain with weep holes at the base of the drain.

The bigger concern for me is that you are a DIY going over a hot mop. Really, the only way to do it correctly is to "float" the walls and curb. And that procedure is best left up to professionals. I would get some quotes from local pros and let them take it from where it is, or maybe someone would be willing to just float it for you and let you take it from there. But probably not, most tile guys do not want to do that, and in fact 90% would not even return your phone call if you requested that. If you were able to get a hot mop, you are probably in SoCal where there are a lot of good tile guys which creates a good buyers market for quality tile work.

When you do want to take on a DIY shower in the future, contact me and we can do a 1 on 1 session to get you an easier system for you to be successful with.
