Silicone under shower valve cover plate?

Do you recommend putting a bead of silicone between shower valve cover plate and tile? Instructions didn't specify. Same with the small diameter tube covers for the shower head/shower wand..

The valves usually come with a gasket on the escutcheon but if there is a grout joint it may not fully seal. If you do a bead of clear silicone, do it after the escutcheon is installed and just do a tiny bead to seal so it’s not even noticeable. DO NOT seal the bottom of the escutcheon, make sure to leave a 1” or so opening so water doesn’t build up and back up over the opening in the wall cavity if water happens to get behind the valve.

I always seal the wall outlets with silicone. Same thing, leave the bottom open.
