In a tricky position
So my home is built in 1965 on the glufcoast of florida. I seem to have copper waste pipe thats 1-1/2 in the shower and my 3 inch for toilet. I noticed my toilet flange seems to be copper like a flange with a long sleeve that extends into what I assume may be cast iron pipe but im not sure until I do a little further investigation. Now I discovered my shower is draining into the toilet waste pipe. My dilemma is if I am going to bust up the shower drain by doing a box out and replace the trap what should I do with the fact it connect to the toilet drain. If the toilet flange is indeed copper connected to cast iron pipes or whatever metal it may be what's the best way. Would I have to get a rubber boot with the steel sleeve because of the acidic soil in florida. Also the toilet flange seems to out of level but the rest of the floor is level. And can somebody tell me what type of flange this is like the material its made out of . Also whats the best way to replace the pipe leading from shower drain to toilet waste pipe. Just do a trench and replace??? Thanks to all
