can I use 1/2" notched trowel for smaller tile?
I'm using 1'x2' porcelain tile in my shower, but there will be a row of 3"x12" tiles partway up the wall. Should I switch trowel size for the smaller tile, or can I stick with the 1/2" x 1/2" for everything?

Thanks for the info Larry. So, I should consider a membrane if the tiles are different thickness? Can you give me some info on what type of membrane and how to attach? I'm planning on using multi-max lite for the shower walls.
