Plum and niche?
Currently working with the RSS niche, how much will my current plum affect everything? Do I really need the sister of the studs for this?
I'm a super noob. I also have sent scraped the old brown glue that was there, that is a pain.

I would invest in a decent aluminum 4’ level. You can get one from Home Depot for about $40.
1/8” over 12” is still a lot. I would work off the entire wall, plumb that to within 1/4” or so over 8’ and then you should be good.
