Floor level problems
Hi, I'm starting a bathroom remodel. The room is 10-6'x 5' old school. The problem is that my house is a split level and the transition occurs 2ft down the length of the bathroom floor, causing a hump. Most likely from settling. Its 11/16 in 2ft in one direction and 5/16 in 3ft the other. I'm not sure quite how to address this problem. Should I pour self leveling concrete? I don't have enough room at the transition to the next room at the door to make it level without a step in elevation. I knew about this problem so I planned on using shaved pebbles on the floor. Should I try to split the difference or maybe use 1/4" backer on the floor and try to build up the thinset underneath? If I use self leveling concrete can I install tile directly over the top of it if its feathered to the high point or do I need another substrate? Any ideas or comments would be appreciated. Thanks
Thanks Ben, I think your right. Just had me concerned because the drop off is so drastic on the door side. I was hoping for some magical cure knowing most likely that there wasn't one.
