Could I tile without spacers?

Long story short: I will have to butt tiles directly against each other to achieve 1/16" grout line(see my previous post for details). Would this lead to "tenting" or other issues? The wall is an alcove, about 60" wide and I plan to leave an 1/8" expansion joint on all 4 sides.

Great question! Ironically, the box recommends a 2mm line (slightly more than 1/16") which would mean I would have to butt the tiles together.

I suppose I could use 1/32" spacers, which would make the grout lines slightly larger than 2mm, but not as big as 1/8".

The whole situation is just bizarre.
