Large Format Tile Tips

Went tile shopping with the wife today and she fell in love with some large format 18x36 porcelain tile for our bathroom and shower. I've never worked with tile so large before so it's kind of intimidating for me to consider. Of course she says its just like small tile but bigger. Before I go ahead and pull the trigger on this was wondering if there were any tips, tricks, or other advice I could get. Trowel size? Thinset recommendations? Pattern layout for a 4ft x 4ft shower walls, and bathroom floor is where these will go if we move forward. Any help would be appreciated.

Considerations to make are that your prep needs to be pretty spot on (flat/plumb) and use leveling clips. Use 1/2”x 1/2” notch trowel. Maybe read some of the recent posts about using large format tile to get an idea of what you’ll be dealing with.
