Laser model/brand
Hello… I purchased a higher-end $575 Bosch GLL3-330CG green light laser which goes up to 200 feet and has 3 planes but I’m not too happy with it (but maybe it’s just a “learning curve”). I tiled 12x24’s around my tub and did the back wall first followed by the sidewalls. To get my side-wall corner-tiles perfect, I first set the outer edge column of tiles, which butt up against Schluter jolly, and let that dry. At that point, the back wall was done and the two sidewall outer tiles were done, I just needed to scribe the corner pieces. Everything looked perfect with the laser, since I moved it for each row, and all three walls were lined up (the vertical cordinating of the horrizontal rows) or at least I thought 😜.
Now that everything’s all done, even though I was super careful to align and square off the tiles using the laser, my left corner has some rows that are 1/16” off. When setting the scribed corner tiles, my options were to not match in the field, or not match in the corner, so obviously I sacrificed the corner 😔
Looking back, when the laser was on there, everything looked perfect but now I’m realizing that at only 3 or 4 feet away, the laser lines are almost 1/8” thick (actual is probably 3/32”) and although I aligned the laser line on the very top edge of the tiles (so part of the laser line was on the tile and part of the line was in the grout joint), I was actually 1/16” too low on my left wall. So… user error, or is there a BETTER LASER that his a finer or smaller line?
Another thing I don’t like about this Bosch laser is the included mount. It has a fine-tuning VERTICAL adjustment knob to go up or down, but NO WAY to fine tune left-to-right. It was a constant struggle to rotate the laser EXACTLY to vertical edges.
I have two more bathrooms to do. So… just learn from my mistakes and keep this laser, or is there a better laser out there with a thinner line?
Thank you.

I've found that a laser level is great for making sure something is level, but not ideal for making sure something is lined up perfectly on opposing walls...at least not without a bunch of practice with your exact laser level.
