Subfloor prep for Strata Mat
I'm remodeling my master bath, and I want to tile the floor (previously was hardwood). We've added a tub, so waterproofing is needed. Current subfloor is 3/4" plywood, as this is a 2nd level.
I'd like to use Strata Mat, instead of cement board. I don't want to thinset the Strata Mat directly to the subfloor as it won't be removable for a re-do in 10-15 years when my wife wants a different tile.
Should I install a 1/4" plywood to then thinset the Strata Mat to?
I'm also considering heating the floor but it requires a separate circuit and I don't have the access to run a new/separate circuit for power.

I think you could just screw 1/2” cement board to the subfloor with no thinset under it. Screw it off good, 8” oc minimum and thinset and tape the seams. If it’s porcelain, you should be fine. I have a lot of installs out there that we did that and never had a problem.
