should i fix this???

Hi all. Recent channel subscriber and discovered this forum. Looking for some help and possible instruction with my upstairs bathroom remodel where I'm converting a tub to shower. I gutted the tub space down to studs and plywood subfloor. It was only after installing the Oatey PVC shower drain, I realized the subfloor was pitching just enough to make me uncomfortable. So ... I dammed the drain and poured some floor leveler .... amounting to about 1/2" around the drain (see pic). I'll be installing a PVC membrane sandwiched between the necessary pitched mud layers. I'll be using pitch stick products from Mark E Industries (Goof Proof) to ensure proper slope. I can access the shower drain through my kitchen ceiling downstairs if needed. Must I fix this and float the drain, perhaps on 1/2" of plywood or other filler material, so it sits flush with the concrete floor leveler? Or would you say I'm good to continue with the next steps (build pre-slope with pitch sticks, install membrane, build mortar bed with more pitch sticks, etc.).

thanks!

George

Unfortunately you confused the need for self leveler when using preformed pans. The oatey system does not require the subfloor to be level becuase you need to build a pre slope anyways. You will need to raise up the drain to be level or close to it.
