Shower install

Isaac I'm a long time follow of your channel. Great work my friend!! So i have a house in the Carolinas built in the mid to late 90s the house was built with no plywood on the exterior of the home not even housewrap. They only use this cardboard looking stuff and that was it. Unbelievable, right? It's my goal to remove the vinyl siding put the plywood housewrap it tape the windows but that's another convo. My question is what board should I use on my shower? The side wall is a exterior wall? I'm going to use spray foam insulation. I figured that may be the best. I have a Laticrete Shower pan kit that I purchased I also bought the Flofx drain. I'm going to be using 12x24 tile. Thank you for any advice or suggestions?

I am not a fan of the foam that Laticrete uses, it's too soft. But they do offer a lifetime warranty, so I recommend following all of the instructions to obtain a warranty in case anything happens to it.
