Trowel Notch Sizes?

Hello all. I'm looking for some trowel notch size recommendations for the following:

RSS Pro foam shower pan to concrete floor using Laticrete MULTIMAX LITE thinset (I think 1/2" is correct for this)

RSS pipe penetration and drain body seals to RSS foam walls using Laticrete MULTIMAX LITE thinset (Is 1/2" too big, not sure)

12" x 24" porcelain tile (3/8" thick) to walls using Laticrete TRI-LITE

Also, I saw an article from Rubi that stated a 1/2" notch of thinset will compress to 1/4" and a 1/4" notch of thinset will compress to 1/8". Is there any truth to this? I've been running with the assumption that a 1/2" trowel notch will bring me to a total thinset thickness of 1/8"

Thanks!

If I cut the batch of TRI-LITE in half by halving the water for a full batch and just weighing out 15 lbs (30 lb bag), that should give me a "recommended" mix per Laticrete, correct? I mean, just for my own testing so that I know I am doing it right.
