Caulk size

Hello, I wanted to check and see when applying caulking. What are the general sizes that will overlap the edge of a tile?

I have a 1/8" chip as I mentioned in the previous post, and I tried cutting another sheet but it cracked. So I had to patch it with the tile repair material. Or I am also wondering, if the caulk will ever be able to cover that chipped edge?

I also don't want to make the caulk to be too wide because the spacing of the tiles are 1/16" except the caulk seam which I did 1/8".

Thanks,

Annie

I've seen caulk joints up to a 1/4" but wouldn't recommend it. Typically the caulk fills the joint, and very minimally overlaps the tile/tub. 1/8" might be ok.
