Proper tile installation for exterior flooring
I’m currently in the process of planning an exterior tile installation and am seeking guidance to ensure the longevity and appearance of the project. My primary concern is the prevention of calcification or efflorescence (the white powdery substance) from appearing on the grout lines and tile surface.
Background info: The area was recently prepped with a newly poured concrete for leveling.
What are the best practices and recommended materials to prevent calcification from seeping up from the substrate? Any specific guidance or product recommendations for the underlayment, mortar, grout, and sealants would be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, are there any critical post-installation care tips to be aware of?
Thank you for your expertise and insight!

I recommend a lightweight Ardex thinset. I think they call it X-78.
Ardex tends to breathe a lot better than other modified thinsets.
The goal to prevent efflorescence with tile, is to get your thinset/mortar base to dry out in a consistent manner.
The problems with efflorescence happen when water gets trapped in voids in the modified thinset, and evaporates in a concentrated manner, leaving behind the mineral salts on the surface.
