MULTIMAX LITE - Water Ratio

So, I've seen Isaac's video regarding the water needed to properly mix MULTIMAX LITE.

A few months ago I was testing my trowling skills using a GoBoard mounted to an old shipping palet.

I mixed up a batch of MULTIMAX LITE following the directions exactly as stated on the bag. I used 5.1 quarts of water and a full bag. I added the water to the bucket first and then slowly poured in the powder as I was mixing. I let it slake as well.

I was able to trowel the thinset onto the GoBoard and the ridges were clearly defined. I was using a 1/2 square notch trowel with 12x24" tiles.

However, I was unable to effectively compress the ridges. I could clearly see this because I was able to see all four sides of the tile. After removing a tile, the coverage was not good.

I also mixed a half batch following the same instructions on the bag. The results were exactly the same.

Should I just go with 6 quarts of water or maybe a tad more? I have another unopened bag of MULTIMAX LITE that I would hate to waste.

I plan on using it to set my RSS Pro shower pan as well the FloFX drain body and RSS membranes.

Should I just take the easier route and use ALL-SET for the RSS pan as well as the tiles? Only ALL-SET in white seems to be in stock now near me and the gray is on backorder. I don't think it really makes a difference regarding setting the pan or for white tiles.

I had a similar experience with the multimax lite- using the bag labeled mix ratio- couldnt get

95% coverage without alot of pressure- backed out and switched to all-set- cost me time and a few tiles- im sure for wall large format tile the adhesion properties seemed really good.-just a newbie.
