Uneven ceiling
Hello,
For the alcove shower (the long side), the ceiling is off by 1/2". It's measuring 5 7/16" on one side and 5 15/16" on another (I took out 1/4" from the measurement for the board gap). I wonder if 1/2" can be filled with plaster at the ceiling. And should I prep the ceiling with plaster before tiling? And what material do I use between the hardie backer board to ceiling transition (I am tiling all the way to the top). Do I apply the QEP cement board tape from the hardie backer to drywall ceiling then even out with mortar for the 1/2" gap then plaster over and paint? I am not sure if it bonds with both substrate. I believe plaster does not bond with the hardie backer or cement board.

We don't use any there. Just tile up 1\8 from the ceiling and caulk it.
Steam shower I would waterproof it
