Modernizing a Block Wall
Only moments ago I discovered something called parging, which appears to be the process of skim coating a concrete wall much like you would drywall to create a smooth finish.
My entire renovation leans towards the modern style. I just had a slat fence replaced by a block wall, and it's ugly cinder block, gray, with 4" thick panels and standard pilasters at 8x8x16.
As the wall is only 4" thick, there was no way to achieve a modern stacked look, which would be done with all 8x8x16 blocks (overkill.) All of the blocks were staggered, like subway tiles typically are, so it looks like a boring wall.
The HOA rules require that the outside of the wall be stucco with a specific paint color...but, the inside can be whatever I want.
So, I was thinking I could skim coat the inside wall with a parging mix and then stamp it to make it appear like it's made of 48" X 48" concrete tiles. I don't think that actually tiling the block wall makes sense, or is possible (unless it actually can be done.)
Wondering if there are any ideas out there to bring the inside of this wall into a modern look.
Thoughts?

That would work.
