Curbless Shower On Concrete Slab
Greetings,
My wife and I are redoing our bathroom and Id like to build it with a curb less shower. I think I've seen every video on YouTube at this point but I'm still stuck on both sequence and material and will try to keep this short.
Our house was built in the 60s and has original tar and screed wood flooring. My bathroom floor was demoed down to the concrete so it naturally sits a 2x4 width below my wood floors. My thought was to do a curb less entry, where instead of cutting the foundation to create the slope, I could raise the whole floor with deck mud (idea came from a TC video) or concrete, and then slope into the drain from there.
The part that has me hung up is how to waterproof it. I've read you can't do a PVC liner because you run into issue where you terminate into the non-shower tile floor. I'm also wondering if I need a preslope mud floor under the water proofing and then deck mud over it?
Maybe what I'm trying to do is not feasible and I need to accept a curb?
Any help is appreciated and can supply pictures if needed. The whole thing is down to the studs so it's a blank canvas at this point. Thank you!
In a sealed system, you don’t need to worry about putting the board on top of the mortar bed. Therefore, I like to put the board up then attach the mortar lock ledgers to the wallboard. Then sheet membrane over everything.
