How much thinset is too much for mosaic 2x2 squares?
Okay, so my field tiles on the floor needed to be set a bit higher than I originally wanted due to the waviness of my slope waterproofing membrane (I used sanded thin-set. Didn't know at the time that it would be hard to squeege it out from under it.)
I could glop a 1/4" thick layer of thin-set between the borders before laying the mosaic tiles, but I'm thinking that will turn into a thin-set wrestling match, like a mud wrestling match.
The field tile and the mosaic tile is the same thickness.
Should I attempt to create a 1/8" float with a 16" wide screed like Isaac did in that glass mosaic video and then use a 1/4" notch on that once it cures?
What thickness of thin-set starts to create problems for squeeze-out with mosaics?
