I've been contemplating whether to hire a contractor for the tub wall installation since I'm using large format tiles, 59 x 23 inches, which cost around $2,000. The tiles are only sold in pre-packs, so hiring a professional seems wise to avoid mistakes that could end up costing more if I miscut one or two tiles.

I contacted a contractor who had previously visited the house whom I had a really good impression, but he didn't responded. I suspect he might prefer taking on a project from start to finish rather than jumping in halfway and he did mention that he doesn't use Hardie Backer, he only float the wall. Another contractor didn't show up and failed to provide a quote after requesting pictures, and a third contractor insisted on using only their own materials for the installation.

I did find someone who can start the work next Wednesday, whom I met at Floor and Decor. However, I couldn’t find any reviews online, he couldn’t recall his company’s name when I asked, and there’s no license number on the quote. The images and videos of his work show what appears to be some misalignment in the geometric grey floor tiles, though it’s hard to tell if it’s due to the video angle. This is a bit concerning.

My main worry is tile misalignment, but since these are large format tiles, I feel it might not be as problematic as it would be with smaller patterned floor tiles. I'm debating whether I should keep searching for more contractors or go ahead and hire this one, considering I've already done the Hardie Backer and waterproofing myself, which are the most important prep that could problem down the line, vs just some misalignment that will not have as big of a consequence.
