How does one support mosaic sheets on a vertical wall?
Okay, so I'm ready to set the 2x2 mosaic sheets on the wall.
When I set the field tile, obviously the tile below it provides the structural support for the spacer between tiles above it, and the ledger at the bottom is the stop for the whole wall.
If I were able to use 1/4" notch so I could firmly press the tile into the substrate, then I think I could get the adhesion I need to keep the tiles from sliding down, but...
If I use a 1/4" notch on the wall under the mosaic, the tiles will sink below the field tile plane, so I need to slightly build out the thin-set so the plane is flush. But, that poses a mechanical challenge as leverage from the weight of the sheets will likely cause them to slide downward.
I mean, I suppose I could put 1/8" spacers between every mosaic tile in every sheet all the way up the wall. Not the spin doctor ones, but the little white "X" spacers.
What should I expect under varying scenarios with a mosaic that doesn't have an interlocking pattern and is free floating?

IDK. I never had to support small tiles like that. If you make the thinset a little stiffer it should be enough to hold those small glass tiles securely in place. However, a ledger board and spacers can’t hurt.
