Mapie Aqua Defense as decoupling agent?

I'm getting ready to tile the floor of a 10'x11' storage room in my garage. The slab has been down for twenty years and has no cracks in the surface. Originally I was going to lay the tile directly on the concrete but everyone says you have to use a decoupling mat. That would almost double the cost and I'm not sure I need it? It's just a storage room. The only other route I see is to use Mapie's paint on Aquadefense, which they say doubles as an uncoupling agent? Trying to save some money here. Any comments would be apreciated.

consider that uncoupling agent as an "insurance" policy. As a business, with the responsibility that comes along with that, I put down an uncoupling layer. As a homeowner, trying to save some money, I wouldn't.
