Trying to save a fiberglass pan.
I'm helping a friend with a repair to her tile shower which has a fiberglass pan. The drain area of the pain failed and now there's a hole in the center of it whers she had to cut around the drain to expose the problem. She's and old contractor with no shower experinece and wants to repair the old pan with some fiberglass cloth. My thought was, rather that try and repair the old pan was to level it with some leveling cement and put down a foam shower tray? I know this is a little sketchy but she doesn't have a lot of money and I think it just might work? The walls of the shower are tiled down to the existing fiberglass pan and would remain undisturbed. Are we crazey to even consider this?

This project has become a bit convoluted. I'm trying to help an old girl (77) with her shower project. It may be a loosing propostion as the more I try and plan it out with her, the more I see she's not quite all there any more. She should tear the whole thing out as you suggested. She keeps drifting off into another reality where she wants to do a quick patch. I keep trying to pull here back telling her she needs to do it right. At this point I think my goal is just too humor her and not let he get into too much trouble. Thanks for the response though. I will certainly consider it if she comes around and starts making sense.
