Drywall Question for Wall Tile

New drywall installation outside of wet area of bathroom. 1/2" drywall.

Is there any prep required for drywall joints? (tape/thinset or drywall hot mud?) Should I pre-fill any gaps larger than 1/8th with hot mud, repair blowouts, torn paper, etc? Where the wall to ceiling transitions are, do we tape and mud the corners or just leave them alone? Last, what about primer?

Any help is appreciated,

Mike

@Isaac Ostrom I messed up the taping. I took that to mean tape and mud. When I checked flatness, the inside corners and butt joint tape and mud...pretty much countered all the work done on shimming the studs out prior to hanging the drywall. So, I'm scraping all that off. I don't think I'll tape wall to ceiling corners. I'm just going to mesh tape the flat and butt joints, and outside corners...and tile right over the top of the tape. I should have known better...dumb mistake.
