So this is a little tangential as far as tiling goes…

I had this vinyl window inserted into the existing aluminum frame in the shower.

I’m going to use quartz to frame the sill

There is a gap around the window that is about 1/2”. The quartz will abutt the frame but I feel like the gap behind it should be filled somehow. Would require a ton of caulking. Thinking maybe silicone caulk the rear of the void and then use 1/2“ foam backer rod to fill the remaining void.

Seem reasonable?
